Belvidere Council passes job cuts and institutes furloughs
BELVIDERE – The Belvidere city council, facing a severe budget shortfall estimated near $1 million, discussed the elimination of several jobs and the possibility of instituting furlough days for non-union personnel last month. At Tuesday’s full council meeting, the council voted to proceed with these actions.
