BELVIDERE - A large crowd turned out July 17 to watch Amerprise Financial play Belvidere McDonald’s for the Belvidere Youth Baseball 2010 Junior Girls playoff championship.
Ameriprise took a 6-0 lead after two innings of play and continued on to win the game, 10-5.
Afterward girls on both teams received individual trophies for having reached the title game.
Ameriprise finished the regular season with a 12-3 record, tying Dean Foods for first place. Dean Foods was awarded first place because it defeated Ameriprise in two of their three earlier meetings.
McDonald’s, which finished in last place with a 3-11 record, upset Dean Foods, 8-7, on the way to the title game. McDonald’s was the defending champion, having defeated Ameriprise (under different sponsorship) last year, 18-1. BYB now is gearing up for Fall Ball, which will start in August.
